It was the first and definitely the start of many more HootUps in the Philippines in the future.

Hootsuite lets us manage our social media accounts in one dashboard. And until recently, Hootsuite also paved the way for us Hootsuite fans and Social Media Enthusiasts to come together for a night of fun, learning, networking and did I mention fun?

Held last June 27, 2014 at A_Space Manila in Makati City from 5:00PM-8:00PM, we started the late afternoon with ‘Color Your Own Owly Masks’ as attendees mingle and share stories with one another.

As the organizer, I was hoping for two things to come out of the event:
1. To be a night of learning about Social Media and Hootsuite
2. To be a night of networking and connecting with like minded professionals

Our host for the night, Aj, gave everyone a chance to quickly introduce themselves. Name, Twitter Handle and Organization. After which, she made us guess the name of the person based on the Twitter Handle or Organization from their business cards. What a fun way to break the ice!

The first speaker was Ms. Lace Llanora of Vanilla Digital. As a Hootsuite Pro User and Brand Ambassador, she shared with us how their team are able to focus on engagement with Hootsuite. She also discussed about the 5 Step Strategy to Social Customer Care: Discover-Map-Educate-Consolidate-Delight.

Next up was Ms. Rosario Juan of Commune. As what I fondly refer to her as a “serial” online and offline community manager and organizer, shared the importance of really connecting with people offline through meetups. She shared her journey in founding @TweetUpMNL, #RescuePH, Google Business Group Makati and the latest, was organizing Social Media Day #BoomPH. Fun fact: Two Couples met and fell inlove through #TweetUpMNL. How cool is that?

Lotta, David and Elaiza from Hootsuite HQ also sent in a quick video to say Hi to #HootUpMNL guests:

From the ‘Color Your Own Owly Masks’, the winners for “Owly of the Night” were chosen as their beautifully colored artwork stood out.

The rest of the night was left to network and connect. Learning and Connecting achievement unlocked!

Check out what the #HootUpMNL attendees have to say about the event:

Our team live by the saying: TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.

And truly, we couldn’t have done any of these without all the support we received.

A big thanks to Hootsuite’s Crystal, Lotta, Elaiza and David for all the assistance, email, inquiries while planning the first ever HootUp here in the Philippines.

To all who attended #HootUpMNL, your smiles made all the effort sooo worth it. I made a Twitter List of all who attended so we can follow each other and of course, continue to connect online and offline. #HootUpMNL Twitter List

To our generous friends from A_Space Manila, Manger Cafe, Network for Enterprising Women, Nestea, Baked Betty and of course, Canva.

And of course, everyone at The K Squad Outsourcing Solutions: Aj, Ivan, Anne, Gayle and Tin, stay Awesome!

So for now, Hootsuite, all I can say is brace yourself for more upcoming #HootUp here in the Philippines!
